Una Curse, a story of a life long love and maybe more. The novel is very well written and despite the length, it is never boring and predictable. Throughout the reading, there is a feeling of inability to get what love demands. The two young people love each other and repel each other because of the conventions of the novel in which they will live an intense and secret love affair destined to burn distance for the rest of their lives. With their pride indelibly marked three generations, and the curse of Toliver takes its course until, in an act of extreme selfishness-love, Mary will not put an end to this by allowing his nephew to live his life away from piantagione di cotone che ha reso infelici le persone che lei ha amato di più.
